In summer the town of Empoli is as welcoming as it could have been burning the infernal city of Dis, which is described in Canto IX of Dante's' Inferno. Try to walk the entire Via Ridolfi, from top to bottom and at the end of the walk, you'll have a good chance of finding in front of San Pietro (or in the worst case in front of Charon, according to your conscience). It looks like a 'free baseless exaggeration, but I guarantee it's a 'no small undertaking to withstand the heat that comes from bouncing building facades, which return the heat received from the sun giving off a radiance in turn deadly, turning the streets into real cooking plates formats giant.
